It’s long enough now to blog about it but the pain of April 4, 2011 will endure for a long time. But it’s time to write about Butler again. Looks like Butler is in the hunt for a top transfer recruit from Arkansas – Rotnei Clarke. He was Arkansas’ leading scorer in the last season with just over 15 points a game. He has promise for the Bulldogs: The former Arkansas guard is visiting potential transfer spots in the next few weeks, including Butler, Virginia and Oklahoma, as reported by Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com . The ACC and Big 12 schools would provide the senior more TV exposure, but Brad Stevens’ Butler program would be the ideal spot for the 6-1 sharpshooter when he is eligible for the 2012-13 season. I am rooting for this young man to go to Butler even if it gets me in trouble in C’ville! What I hope happens this year is a rematch between the Bulldogs and VCU – here in the River City! What will you do, Sandy! There’ll be a blog free evening as a certain blogger roots for Butler! As New York’s new governor, Andrew Cuomo, looks longingly toward a four or eight year stay at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue some time in the future he has been getting tough with New York fiscal mess. Good for him. But some recent decisions have me wondering if, instead of being a new kind of Democrat, he is really just more of the same. The question is, does Andrew Cuomo have an energy plan for New York’s future? Yes, but the future seems to be when he will get around to the solutions [...]

**Written by Doug Powers Turbo Tax Tim is reportedly thinking about abandoning ship : Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner has signaled to White House officials that he’s considering leaving the administration after President Barack Obama reaches an agreement with Congress to raise the national debt limit, according to three people familiar with the matter. Geithner hasn’t made a final decision and won’t do so until the debt ceiling issue has been resolved, according to one of the people. All spoke on condition of anonymity to talk about private discussions. An exit by Geithner would complete the turnover in Obama’s original economic team, with Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Austan Goolsbee scheduled to leave in early August to return to the University of Chicago. President Barack Obama’s proposal to end a tax break for corporate jet owners, a repeated refrain in his news conference yesterday, would achieve less than one-tenth of 1 percent of his target for reducing the federal deficit. Such a change would put $3 billion into the Treasury over a decade, said two congressional aides familiar with the proposal. Democrats want to require companies that use jets for business purposes to write off the cost over seven years, instead of five years allowed under current law, said a congressional aide and a White House aide. Airplanes used for charter or commercial flights already must be depreciated over seven years. Read more … [...]

Obama is misleading when he suggests that closing the loophole for corporate jets would make much of a dent in the federal budget. He also should made clear that he would like to raise taxes on people making more than $250,000, rather than just “millionaires and billionaires.” The president’s claim of an “unprecedented” effort to trim federal regulations is laughable. And it would be nice to hear Obama acknowledge for once that, until a few months ago, his administration was eager to do business with Gaddafi. Read more …. [...]
