If there was any doubt that Virginia’s Republican Establishment Anointed Candidate Mitt Romney was not a big spending liberal, take a look at the Daily Caller where Romney is quoted as saying: “If you just cut, if all you’re thinking about doing is cutting spending, as you cut spending you’ll slow down the economy,” he said at one point, according to NBC News. “So you have to, at the same time, create pro-growth tax policies.” The same article said: Fiscal conservatives were quick to jump on Romney’s comments and deride his knowledge of economics. “It’s hogwash,” Club for Growth Vice President Andy Roth told NBC. “It confirms yet again that Romney is not a limited government conservative.” For those blindly assuming that Romney, despite the red carpet treatment by some of the coattail clingers in Virginia, will do anything to repair the damage to the country done by Obama, you might want to think again. Dear Virginians: It is a shame when after years of pro-life steadfastness, Governor McDonnell’s commitment gets severely blurred by the sweet wine of Vice Presidential ambition. Intoxicating and crippling, his drunken desire to play fiddle with Massachusetts Moderation dulls his senses and infuriates his supporters. Thank goodness for sober Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli who fearlessly grabbed the wheel at a Family Foundation reception on February 15. Governor McDonnell sat speechless and dumbfounded as our Attorney General Cuccinelli guided Virginia in the right direction by unequivocally pronouncing HB1 constitutional after Governor McDonnell stumbled in a long-winded slurred speech of nothingness when asked if he would support HB1. It was unconscionable for Governor McDonnell to pretend in front of 200 people that he did not know if House Bill 1 is constitutional. HB1 declares that life begins at conception therefore parents would be able to assert a civil suit in the case of wrongful death of their preborn child (i.e. drunk driver killing a preborn child). Governor McDonnell knows full well that the language in HB1 has already passed the scrutiny of the U.S. [...]
By Don Blake , Chairman, Virginia Christian Alliance There has been a lot of “chatter” in the news and on the internet about Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall’s House Bill 1 (HB 1).· The bill passed the Virginia House of Delegates (under the leadership of Speaker Bill Howell) two to one, for the second year in a row. One would think that the HB 1 would pass the Virginia Senate by a vote or two, but certainly with a 20-20 vote and Lieutenant Governor Bolling voting the tie breaker.· Not so fast. First, back to the “chatter”.· Newspaper, TV news and internet “news” is full of outright lies about what HB 1 “may” or “will” do.· Some would say “lies” is “too strong” – no the “chatter” and “news”against HB 1 are all lies.· It is like the old song “Who are you going to believe “ ME ? or your lying eyes”? House Bill 1 is almost verbatim of the Missouri Law of 1986, that was tested by the U [...]
I have been, and still am, a firm believer in the good things that the Family Foundation does. But I am not alone in scratching my head at their failure to get behind one of the most important bills of the year, House Bill 1. Here is another voice in the baffling saga of tepid support for pro-life causes we are seeing from the McDonnell Administration and the Family Foundation, who we thought were two of our biggest allies in this battle. Fundamental Things writes: Speaking Truth to Power So far, it appears that Governor McDonnell’s political ambitions will prevent him from using his considerable influence to ensure that HB1 makes it through the Senate. This was a fascinating article about a position several researchers offered to the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Several researchers suggest that cetaceans (That’s right: dolphins and whales!) have legal rights! Read for yourself! Discussing their “declaration of rights” for cetaceans at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting in Vancouver, an international team of researchers said the animals should have the same rights to life, liberty and wellbeing as humans. Dr Thomas White, an ethics expert at Loyola Marymount University in California, said: “The similarities between cetaceans and humans are such that they, as we, have an individual sense of self. “Dolphins are non human persons. A person needs to be an individual. If individuals count, then the deliberate killing of individuals of this sort is ethically the equivalent of deliberately killing a human being. [...]
You can be a Democrat and a Christian. You can be a Liberal and a Christian. You can be a Liberal Democrat and be a Christian . But you simply cannot be a Progressive and a Christian. The two are mutually exclusive [...]
Mental Recession has a great piece on some shocking Union behavior that I found very interesting: The Albany Times Union has broken a story involving correction officers in Rensselaer county trying to unseat the incumbent Republican sheriff, Jack Mahar, through unsavory means. The crux of the story involves getting inmates to register or change their enrollment to the Conservative Party, giving the Democrat challenger, Gary Gordon, an edge in the general election. Gordon ended up capturing the Conservative line by a narrow margin, but losing the general election to Mahar. Reports show a labor union leader for the corrections officers, Kevin Rogers, allegedly dropping off 140 voter registration forms that enrolled people in the Conservative Party, of which four have been confirmed to be inmates. Check out the rest at The Mental Recession . [...]
This is an article written by Bruce D. Price, one of the nations leading authorities on Improving Education in the nation. Bruce is a thorn in the side of the Education Establishment and has become known for his honest, straightforward attacks on our failed education system. His logic and ability to point out the blatant stupidity within the system have not exactly endeared him to the guardians of our failed education system, which is why I find Bruce to be a much needed and welcomed voice in fixing the country. One student at a time. [...]
This is an Op-Ed written by Terry Beatley of No Excuse Ministry PAC. In response to the letter to the editor with the title “ Think you have control over your own body, ladies?” I would like to share a counter viewpoint from Dr. Bernard Nathanson, the co-founder of NARAL, America’s largest abortion lobby group. On December 1, 2009, I flew to Manhatten, New York, to interview Dr. Nathanson who felt personally responsible for killing 75,000 children while he advanced unfettered abortion on America in the 70’s; and who gave me a message to carry to America. I promised him that I would carry his message and never stop. I wish I could share with the author of the letter to the editor who asked, “How is forcing [a pregnant woman] to carry a baby to term with a serious deformity going to help anyone?” and “Do you think you have autonomy over your own body…?” Voicing her complaint that Delegate Mark Cole patroned a bill which would repeal taxpayer funding of the state Medicaid program for women who choose to kill their baby in the womb due to physical deformity or mental deficiency, the author saw nothing positive or good in bringing a baby like this full-term. [...]
The news for Mitt Romney is getting worse by the day . Rick Santorum has opened up a double digit lead over rival Mitt Romney in Gallup’s latest daily tracking poll . The survey finds Santorum with support from 36 percent of registered Republicans nationally, topping Romney at 26 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) follows at 13 percent, with Texas Rep. [...]
We have the wonderful anti-ICLEI bill in NH and the Georgia Senate resolution that are pending in their respective state houses but this bill may be BEST of all: HB 3571 and SB 3407, banning implementation of Agenda 21 and ICLEI in the Volunteer State. Here’s the bill: AN ACT relative to the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and the Statement of principles for the Sustainable Management of Forests, known as “Agenda 21″. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: SECTION 1. As used in this act, “political subdivision” means all state, county, incorporated city, unincorporated city, public local entity, public-private partnership, or any other public entity thereof. SECTION 2. [...]
An interesting bit of insight from Defeat Tim Kaine : Tim Kaine is officially boring officially according to Google Insights. The phrase Tim Kaine typically carries zero interest level. Here is a chart over the last 30 days: Google Interest for Tim Kaine Last 30 Days (You have to be signed into your Google account to see numbers with the graph) The bump from Feb 9-15 probably resulted from Kaine trying to distance himself from the Obamacare contraception controversy, for a day. Perhaps if Kaine called for the repeal of Obamacare, then his organic search would really take off. [...]
You have heard about the Ron-bots. Those fanatical, adoring Ron Paul fans who are so absorbed in all things Ron Paul that they push obsessive to new levels. They defend their guy no matter what. Ron Paul can do no wrong. And if you ever watched anyone who was a perfectly normal person, perhaps a friend or family member, evolve into a Ron Paul fan – a Ron-bot, the transformation is nothing short of bewildering [...]
Republican Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall has decided to throw his hat into the US Senate primary race to see which Republican will face off against Obama’s favorite son Tim Kaine in November. If you don’t know the name Bob Marshall, you probably don’t live in Virginia. Delegate Marshall has been fighting the good fight for decades and introduced legislation that has caused much gnashing of teeth among those on the left. Taking on Obamacare Mandates, advocating Pro-life issues and fighting for State’s Rights has been a mainstay of Marshall’s legislative career. But now that Marshall has decided to run in an already crowded Republican Primary that features no less than former Virginia Governor and US Senator George Allen as the leading contender as well as a host of lesser known wannabees: Jamie Radtke, E.W [...]
We hope not, but given the fact that Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is often named on everyone’s short list for Vice President, and his strong support for Virginia’s anointed Republican candidate Mitt Romney, it is a question that is being raised often in Pro-life circles. And we all know about the abortion flip-flops that Mitt Romney has made. He was for abortion before he was against it. When it suited him politically, he was pro-abortion. [...]
I enjoyed the article by Michael Brown in Townhall, especially the part about Richard Dawkins. Dawkins : On the Origin of Species…Uh…With, oh, God, On the Origin of Species. There is a sub-title with respect to the preservation of favoured races in the struggle for life. (Dawkins actually left out the “Natural Selection” part of the title, even though it is the cornerstone of Darwin’s evolutionary theory.) Dr. Dawkins, Tim Tebow can be reached c/o the Denver Broncos to know more about becoming a follower of Christ! (Or you can go here !) But, the statistics about those who call themselves believers or followers of Christ in Britain are disturbing. Granted, it was a survey by the Richard Dawkins foundation but I believe the numbers are legitimate. Here are some: 60% of so-called Christians have not read any part of the Bible in the last year. [...]

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up, carved eternally in the akhasic records of cyberspace. There was a great deal of attention this week from the Council on Th eObama Administration’s attack on the First Amendment via Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius’ fatwa requiring religious institutions like those run by the Catholic Church to provide birth control, sterilization and abortion services to their employees as part of the health insurance requirements of ObamaCare. This week’s winner, Rhymes With Right ‘s Should The Catholic Church Go Medieval Over ObamaCare Regulations? proposes that the Church fight back with some ancient strategies. Here’s a slice: On January 20, 2012, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius issued a regulation which required religiously affiliated employers to provide their employees with free sterilization and contraceptives(including abortifacients) even if doing so violated the religious tenets of the organization [...]
Is it in the water? A time warp? This is the biggest year for Virginia politics since 1841. Virginia native (born in Winchester!) and resident Rick Santorum was the first resident of the Old Dominion to win a major party caucus – Iowa. Then Virginia resident Newt Gingrich wins the SC primary, another first for the Commonwealth. And our own chief executive, Bob McDonnell, is on some short lists as a running mate on the GOP ticket. It’s great news! Now another resident of the Commonwealth has placed his hat in the ring: Former VA Congressman Virgil Goode apparently will seek the Constitution Party nomination for President. Here’s the Daily Caller article and a highlight or two: In a brief interview with The Daily Caller, Goode said that his platform consists of four planks: limited government, border security, rapidly adopting a balanced budget and enacting term limits . “If I’m fortunate enough to get the nomination of the Constitution Party, I will take as many votes from Obama as I would from the Republican nominee,” he said. Sounds like a candidate to me. Goode also thinks in the GOP primary, Ron Paul can win: “I expect it will be a fairly close,” he said of the GOP primary in his state. “I think Representative Paul’s fiscal restraint positions will play well in Virginia.” Goode says, however, that he will not cast a ballot for either candidate. [...]
It’s wonderful what is happening in America these days. Before the Miracle of Carroll County where sustainability/Agenda 21 and ICLEI were EXPOSED as the threats to liberty, sovereignty and property rights, they laughed at the occasional activist who stood up for the right. ICLEI’s not laughing now! Here is one more example of the American people WISING UP to the threat of Agenda 21/ICLEI and the sustainability racket: Senate RESOLUTION 730 in the State of Georgia: A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the destructive and insidious nature of the United Nations Agenda 21; and for 2 other purposes. 3 WHEREAS, the United Nations Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of extreme 4 environmentalism, social engineering, and global political control that was initiated at the 5 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de 6 Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992; and 7 WHEREAS, the United Nations Agenda 21 is being covertly pushed into local communities 8 throughout the United States of America through the International Council of Local 9 Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) through local “sustainable development” policies, such as 10 Smart Growth, Wildlands Project, Resilient Cities, Regional Visioning Projects, and other 11 “Green” or “Alternative” projects; and 12 WHEREAS, this plan of radical so-called “sustainable development” views the American 13 way of life of private property ownership, single-family homes, private car ownership and 14 individual travel choices, and privately owned farms all as destructive to the environment; 15 and 16 WHEREAS, according to the United Nations Agenda 21 policy, social justice is described 17 as the right and opportunity of all people to benefit equally from the resources afforded by 18 society and the environment which would be accomplished by socialists and communist 19 redistribution of wealth; and 20 WHEREAS, according to the United Nations Agenda 21 policy, national sovereignty is 21 deemed a social injustice. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body 23 recognize the destructive and insidious nature of the United Nations Agenda 21, endorse 12 LC 93 0246 S. R. 730 – 2 – 24 rejection of its radical policies and of any grant monies attached to it, and recommend 25 exposing to the public and public policymakers the dangerous intent of the plan. [...]
I do not say one is a visionary unless I mean it. It’s a wonderful compliment. (Of course, all vision is from God’s Holy Spirit!) But this local official, much like Carroll County (MD) Commissioner Richard Rothschild, whose vision was ending ICLEI and the “sustainability” racket, is indeed a perosn of vision. Bonner County (ID) Commissioner Cornel Rasor showed vision when he came up with a Property Rights Council to protect property rights from Agenda 21 and its agents, one of whom is ICLEI: Bonner County is making sure property rights are afforded more protection and consideration. “We’re trying to institutionalize it so that that particular point of view gets weighed in on all the time, rather than just occasionally,” said Commissioner Cornel Rasor, who spearheaded the formation of the Bonner County Property Rights Council. * * * The council will review local, state and federal government activities and determine whether they have a detrimental effect on property rights. The Left howled ! (Commissioner Rasor must be onto something!) But even in Virginia there are stirrings I hear (I cannot discuss details yet) of similar ideas. May Hanover be the first to have an official Property Rights Council! But I digress! Commissioner Rasor has endorsed Mitt Romney NO! He’s endorsed Ron Paul. Here’s the report: “As I reflect on the qualities I would like to see in a President, what comes to mind are several traits. He should be conversant in the document he is sworn to uphold – the U.S [...]
To parody an early rock and roll song: “Roll over Brezhnev and tell Hitler the news!” Here’s two reports on two remarkable statements made by the German Finance Minister about Greece. German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble is raising fresh demands, suggesting that Greece should postpone April’s elections and appoint a technocrat government for a year without key PASOK and New Democracy parties, prompting the headline “Schaeuble Junta” in newspaper Eleftheros Typos . From the other report: All Greek parties must commit to reforms agreed with international lenders, no matter who wins upcoming elections, or Athens puts at risk a second bailout programme it needs to avoid default, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said on Tuesday. “ Greece must implement the agreed measures and reforms. And of course all Greek parties must agree to the measures and a new programme, independently of the upcoming elections,” Schaeuble told reporters in Brussels [...]
In news that was meant to influence the upcoming Washington State caucuses, but which might have as much influence in the Old Dominion, former Redskin star Clint Didier has come out for Ron Paul for President! Yes, that Clint Didier! Here’s the report from the Daily Paul: “I believe the next President of the United States needs to be a defender of America protecting and maintaining her sovereignty, one who understands the worldwide economic crisis we face and first and foremost demonstrates he has America’s interest at heart. The next president must understand what constitutes a free market, be willing to stand tall against powerful lobbying interests, and have the courage to fight for a sound monetary policy, fiscal sanity, and individual liberty. “As an American farmer yearning for strong constitutional leadership, I see Ron Paul as a loyal disciple of our founding fathers who gave us the opportunity to experience life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He has displayed integrity and adherence to our Constitution for 30 years. I have found no other presidential candidate so disciplined.” Here’s confirmation from the Washington Post: “You know, this is a lot like what has to happen to D.C.,” Clint Didier once said while fiddling with a tractor , when he was attempting to secure the Republication nomination for U.S. [...]
